Excuses Excuses.....

As excuses go for not having any beads this week, I think this is a good one...on Sunday we took our bikes to West Cliff Drive in Santa Cruz for a ride with my sister & her kids...a ton of fun was had by all, we then met my parents on the wharf for a late lunch & a visit to the art, wine & jazz festival that was on at the time...as we drove home in the evening I remember both of us remarking on how awesome this day has been...we got home & unloaded the bikes & put them in the garage, as I was bringing down the sectional door of the garage, I mistakenly for a split second, put my finger in between two of the sections as the door was coming down...

Hubby says my scream sounded like I was being killed & well the pain was that bad...I pulled the door back up with my left hand in that same second as it was crushing the tip of my middle finger on my right hand & pulled my finger out, the pain was amazing, I almost passed out from it...

This is the same hand by the way that I use to apply glass to the mandrel with & add details to beads with...The Doctor said I will be able to work again in about 10 days...dont even ask me how long it took to type this post...funny thing I never wear nail polish anymore since with lampworking there is not much use to it, by the time you wash the beads the polish is chipped off...but on Saturday I bought & painted my nails with this bluish purple color nail polish, the under side of my broken finger has this fat bruise that is the same color as the nail polish on the other side of it...I asked the DR. if we should remove the polish to see what it looked like under it...he laughed & said no reason, the nail will probably be the same color as your nail polish & it will fall off anyway so you can leave the polish if you want...

So there are no beads this week, sorry folks...the photo you see above is of a bead I am giving away this week from my private stash...last week's winner anonymous from Reno please tell me who you are & your address so I can send you your yummy bead...enter to win this week's bead by making a comment on this post...hope the photo of my crushed finger did not gross you out...it is in a finger tip splint thing now that is there to protect it from getting banged around, but there is not much they can do to fix it, just time, rest & meds...

You may not expect me to say it with a broken finger, but life is still good...thanks for stopping by...

Jelveh

I'm so sorry, Jelveh! That break looks nasty! It's amazing how such a small % of the body can cause such a great % of pain! Best wishes in your recovery so we can see the yummies again!

Hi Jelveh:
Oh, no! Your poor finger must be very painful!!!! I bet that incident scared Martin to death! Healing thoughts coming your way!
I am glad that you had a wonderful day before your accident. Your activities sound like things I would love to do---well, except for the garage door monster trying to eat your finger!
Love the colors in this week's give away bead!

The only thing I ever broke was my toe when I was a teenager and got up in the morning and walked into the wall instead of the doorway!
I KNOW it didn't hurt as much as your poor finger did/does though!
Man... that looks painful!
Get well soon!!

Oh Jelveh, I'm so sorry that you demolished your finger, it doesn't look good. I think that people will understand no beads this week and if they don't there isn't much you can do. I hope it gets better fast, I know broken digits can really hurt! Take care and keep us posted on your healing process.
Peace and love,
Brenda

Hey there Jelveh! I'm so sorry about your finger! Watch some good movies to pass the time...that always helps me when I am physically unable to craft. :o) I am the Reno winner of last week's bead!! Woo hoo!! I emailed you my info. Thank you so much and take it easy this week!

Ouch, sorry to hear about your finger & am sending white light and good thoughts your way. (I have nightmares about doing that myself whenever I close our garage door.) Might as well make the best of your downtime and just soak up more sunshine, art, wine (that'll help the pain, lol!) and good company. Happy wishes for a speedy recovery:)

So sorry to see your finger...it looks very painful. Get lots of rest and do something fun to take your mind off the pain. Movies does sound like a good idea. I'll pray for a quick recovery. Sue

wow thanks for all the love everyone...you are the best...
I saw my Dr. he said the finger is doing great, yours truly even tried her hand at bead making today, it went really well, thankfully I am one of thoes beadmakers who thought herself how to make beads with both hands...so there will beads next week for sure...

Did I mention I am also in the middle of opening a new glass school with my friend and there is a book in the works which is more than half way finished...life is indeed good...thanks for all the love once again you are the best friends/clients & bead addict buddies a girl could ask for...

Oh Special thank you to my friend TC who came by my house today & helped with the shipping of the last 10 or so key mandrels sold over the last couple of days...she is the best...and thanks to all the nice people who are buying my key mandrels...

hope you are all doing well too...
