She made us...The Beads

Hello all, hope you are having a wonderful summer...I have been kind of slow this summer, this blog post is actually from 100s of beads I have made that are still on the mandrel and need to be cleaned and photographed & listed...but I have listed a whole bunch of new beads in my etsy shop for you to check out...

About the giveaways...the last bead set of giveaways goes to Lori Anderson of Pretty Things...thanks for playing...I am looking for new and exciting ways to have bead giveaways, most people seem to be bored with the way I am doing it now...So please leave a comment on this post about a cool way to hold giveaways on my blog...if I pick your idea, you will get your choice of a set of beads or focal bead from my etsy shop...
Other than that life is good...there has been so much going on from our pretty garden my friend helped me put together to taking a great class last month with Joy Raskin at the studio... Dont forget the awesome Holly Cooper is teaching a lampwork class at the studio this September 8 & 9th. I think there is one space left in class...
Thanks so much for stopping by...

Bead Soup #5 Reveal Day...

Hi every one, as you may have read in my last post, I got a yummy bead soup from Jeannette Blix...here is a link to the bead soup I got...

It is always the same with me when it comes to making jewelry or when I am melting glass & making beads, I change my mind in the middle all the time...I call this set Elusive Freedom...I will leave the interpretation of this piece to you, there are several ways to explain this set based on the name Elusive Freedom...Please make a comment about what you think it means and I will enter your name in a drawing for the set...sorry about the bad photos, I will try again later...

goddess focal & some of the ceramic & silver beads, I added the orange beads that someone told me were actually heat treated turquoise, I am not sure if such a thing exists but I liked them in this set...
The goddess focal bead,,,I wire wrapped her to the necklace...

The yummy clasp, I decided it looked great in the front left side of the necklace...

group photos, I was having the hardest time with my camera, I dropped the camera right before I took the photos...
different background and the earrings that match, but not so matchy matchy...enter to win this set by making a comment on my blog. I also added the sterling silver wire & the sterling charms, chain & rings to go with the yummy sterling silver I was sent...
After you enter the drawing here, check out my partners blog... Here is the link to Jeanette Blix's blog...

The SAD news is that Grace hurt herself really bad, she has been off of work for a week & she is on her way to an MRI & a Neurologist on Wednesday...Due to this unfortunate accident we have to cancel Heather Trimlett's class next week...rest assured everyone will be refunded & her class will be rescheduled for a later date...we are thinking Spring 2011...Grace did add more firt to the shop, she just wont stop working...

This past week, while Grace was suffering, hubby & I took a few days off, went to Montana to visit the grandparent (hubby's)...we had a great time, they were so much fun to hang out with...from picnics to lovely drives & conversations that went on forever, we enjoyed our time with them & laughed so much...& cried a bit too, specially when Grandma gave hubby this very cool book of all the letters & cards that he & his brother had sent them over the years...Hubby & I went for a long two and half hour float in a tube on the Madison River among other fun times...

Now about some new yummy beads, if I say so myself,  I made a couple of weeks ago & have been listing them in my etsy shop today...shipping is still free for all orders over $50.00 until Tuesday the 7th of September...

Last week's delicious bead goes to one of my favorite jewelry designers & new glass artists around, Lori of Pretty Things...for this week, I have one of my Ribbon Beads, the colors are mostly blues & soft greens...yum, to win it make a comment on this post...

Friends in high places...

I have a friend that I met through beads, in that I met her while working at my studio several years ago, my work place was in a Hobby store at the time & folks would come by & watch me work...anyway she started buying beads from me, little did I know that she was an amazing person & a very talented jewelry designer in her own right...over time we became friends as it the case with me & beady people...I missed her lots while we were in England & just recently we have started to hang out again...we went to the movies the other night (the proposal) & out to dinner at Ricatoni's, we had a ton of fun...I love girls night out...here is a link to her shop on etsy & a few photos of her yummy work with my beads...oh yeah her name is Samantha...I also love her work so much that got all my mother's day gifts from her this year...if you need a great piece of one of kind jewelry, she is your girl...she finds & uses the coolest handmade silver findings & rare stones too in all her yummy art... Thanks for stopping by...

Artist Alert...Galit Barak...

Hi all, in my quest to find great artists & show them off here, I have found Galit Barak Jewelry Designer...below is an interview I did with her...she is pretty cool...enjoy

1. Tell me a bit about you & what is your art form/media? My name is Galit Barak, I'm 22 years old from Israel.I live in a small town next to the Mediterranean Sea. I always loved to create, and studies fine arts in high school. I learned to knit and crochet at that time and wanted to explore the technique a bit more and started to use simple metal wires.

2. How long have you been working in the medium, why or how did you get started? I started crocheting wire for jewelry making while serving the IDF 2 3 years ago as a tour guide for soldiers in Jerusalem, and just couldn't stop creating my jewelry ever since.

3. What inspires and influences your art? Well, it's hard to say, I really love using circles and natural shapes but more than anything I'm inspired and influenced by the semi-precious stones and wires I'm using.I combine colors, shapes and textures while using high quality materials as 14 karat gold filled, sterling silver, semi-precious stones and pearls.

4. What is the most favorite part of working with your art medium? For me each one of my creations is unique. I love making custom order for special events, wedding, and personal ideas of customers. It is important to me to continuously developing and improving my jewelry so I'm attending to collage for B.Des degree in jewelry design.

5. What was the last item you bought on Etsy & why? If it was a good transaction lets give a shout out to the seller? The last item I bought was 26ga gold filled headpins from frogcottage http://www.etsy.com/view_transaction.php?transaction_id=14978395 She is so kind, great prices, and no one sell these perfect headpins in Israel!!!! Thank you!!!

Thank you Galit oh and here is her blog galitbarak.blogspot.com...Thanks for stopping by everyone...
