New Beads & New Classes...

Hi all...I have new beads to share & some news about my next classes...first off we saw 2 great movies this week, which does not happen often so I am sharing..Julie & Julia, it was a fun movie & well done, the other one is District which was awesome & well worth a see...& Over the weekend one of my other moms, who is actually my mom's best friend, had a birthday party for her first grandchild...in the photo you may also see my purple hair...I got it done last week, the pink was all gone...

I made lots of new beads, I will be listing them on etsy, the last of which should be up by about 6:30pm California time Thursday Aug 20th...

Now about the classes...I have been helping my friend Grace open Graceful Customs, here new Glass studio & jewelry workshop in Gilroy California. We will have a big grand opening party soon. I will be teaching & making my beads at the studio on a regular basis. We will also bring other teachers to the studio to teach classes in glass bead making, jewelry design, silver & stone work, just to name a few... my first class at the school will be on September 20th, it will be my 5 hour beginner lampworking class.

I will be teaching a 2 week class in Istanbul Turkey at the Glass Furnace from September 27th to October 10. many perspective students have said that they can not take two weeks off of their life to take this class...so the school & I have discussed it & added 3 classes for 3 days each inside the same two week period...so if you have signed up for the two week class you will get the full course, the 3 day students will get specific sections of it...

I know it sounds a bit complicated, but trust me it will be great, my friend Gunay will be my assistant & we will have a ton of fun...as a side note, I did not pick the schedule for my class at the Glass Furnace, it is part of the philosophy of the school, total immersion in glass & it works, the two week class we had last year was a great fun experience for me and I believe for the 12 students as well...Send me an email if you have any questions about these classes...

Last week's yummy bead goes to Ginny from FL. this week's yummy bead is an apple core drum bead with bubble eyes...its very yummy...enter to win it by making comment about a fun class you took once...or anything you want to talk about...

Thanks for stopping by...Life is busy but good...

Jelveh

Peace

hi! sure wish i could go to turkey and take your class; i'll be there in spirit! i took a wonderful jewelry wire working class at a local bead shop and it was a hoot. we were all beginners so we had a heck of a time trying to make the basic wrapped loop. it's only taken me about 100 loops to get it down. the class experience can be such an incredible bonding experience. peace out, lisa d., portland, oregon

Hi Jeleveh:
I was just reading along your blog thinking about when we went to Gilroy for the Garlic Festival. I was enjoying the read when BAM--I saw my name. WOO HOO! Another one of Jelveh's beauties for me. How lucky can a girl get?
Thank you so much!
Ginny
PS LOVE the purple hair; you make life fun!

hi jelveh - i have never taken a class in beadmaking(specifically lampworking) but someday i would love to - there is a lady up here in northern bc that does just that & i know she would be willing to teach me - it's just the job thing & everyday stuff that keeps getting in the way(no excuse i know...........)

Hi Jelveh,
I have heard that both those movies are good, I can't wait to see them when I get back from Michigan. Ginny is one very lucky lady I must say. I bet taking a class with her would be a blast. By the way, I love your hair, it almost matches your purple bag you are holding in the picture. I laugh at my pearl knotting class that I took everytime I think about it. The instructor thought I was a leftie because I kept doing the knotting like left handers do and she thought I was playing an evil trick on her but I am a true right handed person and can't do anything with my left hand except knot pearls. I would love to take classes from you Jelveh, I bet you really bring the best out of your students, that's the best part of teaching isn't it? Have a great weekend, I'm off to Detroit in the am!
Peace to you and yours!

Hi Jelveh,
It just so happens that I took a very fun class just last night. We are in Breckenridge for a few weeks and last night the Arts District here offered a class in beginning silversmithing....something I have been "toying" with for awhile. But it was very helpful to learn the techniques from something who really knows how instead of trial and error on my part :o)
Sandi R from Texas (or Breckenridge at the moment!)

I would love to come to Turkey for the class. Will you do one in 2010 and if so when? I want to come.

Love the new beads and I have ordered a few for some more creations.

Bookmaking sounds like fun Cynthialee...

Hey Lisa girl, wish you could come too...I need to take more jewelry classes in wire work...sounds like yours was a lot of fun...you can always come to California and visit at the new studio....

Thanks Laura girl...I am having fun with the purple hair...

Hey Ginny, yup you won the bead, hope you liked it...yeah the Garlic Festival can be fun but so very hot & makes for a long day, we have gone a few times, but now we leave town when its on...

Lesile, no worries if you have not taken a class yet in lampworking, there is always time...you can call the lady who teaches and see if she can break up the class for you and give it in parts so you can fit it in your schedule, I do that for students who are short on time & it works well...

Hey Brenda girl...yeah Ginny would be fun in class, one of these days I hope to put together a part with all of my clients and students... have our own gathering of sorts...
never done pearl knotting, sounds interesting...in class I have had both left and right hand students and have had to change things around a bit to fit their needs, in doing so I can make beads with both hands, which is kind of cool and came in handy when I broke my finger...have fun on your trip...

Sandi, silversmiting sounds so much fun, I took a silver clay class once and loved it and now I want to take silversmithing, the cool thing about the new studio is that Grace knows silver well, so she will be teaching me...should be fun...

ms chillipots, I should have more classes in Turkey in 2010, will try to make them for shorter times like 5 days or a week at the most...hope to see you there someday, or there is always California, we even have great guest rooms for out of town students and teachers...

acptuser, I love flowers, sounds fun...

Sarah girl, now that sounds like a really fun fun class...I have to see if hubby is in the mood, he likes to dance and I love to dance...we have been toying with the idea for some time of taking a class...we shall see...

Peace

Hi Jelveh
Thanks for posting the photo of the necklace I made with your beautiful bead. I feel like a celebrity! :-)
Someday I hope to be able to try my hand at bead making. Before we left Maui last spring I met a very talented beader who offered me lessons - - - when we go back next month I hope to take advantage of her offer.
Aloha,
Lee Marsden
