Twitter Revolution & Beads...

I was born in Iran, my family left 31 years ago when I was 14 during the revolution that changed the life of 75 million Iranians, the old government of Iran, although considered a dictatorship by some, was in fact a 100 thousand times better than the oppressive violent one that took its place in 1979.

Forever it seems many Iranians world over, inside & out of the country have been waiting for the moment that would bring an end to this mad government & free them. A moment that would take Iran back to a time before the Islamic Republic was in charge, a time where Christians Jews & Muslims practiced their faith as they wished, a time that women worked & dressed as anyone in the west does, where men & women could walk down the street without being married, where women had rights & were treated not as 3rd class citizens...

What we see & hear in our media today about the protests against the fake elections, is perhaps the start of this change & thank goodness there is Twitter to let it all come out...so we all know what is going on inside the country, while reporters have been kicked out, cell phone towers shut off & satellite signals jammed...sadly as it looks like people want change, it is important to note even the guy people are protesting for was chosen by the supreme leader, who is the real guy in charge, to make change he has to go...a twitter revolution may just change the everyday life of 75 million people, who want the same thing you and I have, the right to live a happy free productive life...

On to beads...below is the photo of beads that I have coming today, I am listing them in my etsy shop as the day goes on, hopefully by 3:30pm California time I will have them all listed...

Wow Jelveh...Your comments on what is going on in Iran really make me think about how much we take for granted the wonderful freedoms we have here in the US!!! We should be much more thankful.
By the way, the bead you made is by far the yummiest I have EVER seen of you creations!

Thanks so much Sue, we hope the best for everyone too...

Yup Vered, I hope they can bring change too, but I fear & it looks that way already, that it is going to be a bloody way to bring the change, it seems as my aunt was telling me on the phone again today, that the government has taken a very hard line & is pushing back with some nasty ways, so the people will have to choose how much they want this change, there is talk of strikes, which i think it is a good way to go about it for now & would teach the governmnet how much power the people really do have and it would be safer than taking to the street & clashing with the Basij & Police...all I know its getting harder to get hold of the family & they are getting more upset & less hopeful as the days go by...I am glad the administration (ours) had some harsh words for the governmnet of iran yesterday, I hope the UN and other nations can at least say more & try and step in...at the end there is not much that can be done from the outside short of sending troops in and we all know that is not a good idea at all...

Hey Ginny, thanks girl, you probebly have read me say some of this before, but I remember the days in Iran where I wore what I wanted, my mother who has a degree in philosophy was a teacher & wore what ever she wanted, I remember when my aunt was the head of the agriculture dept of the entire country, and wore lovely suits to work, I remember how women were Docors, Lawyers, artists, business owners & anything they wished to be, dressed as they wished and drove cars and lived free, even my grandmother did not wear a covering 31 one years ago...and thats just the things with women, I remember eating lunch at the Mc Donalds across the street from my school & loving western music and no one would tell me I could not...I remember tv and movie and music programs that included women & the life of women in them, I remember a time when women were treated as humans in Iran...used to be Iran was one of a few friends the US had in the middle east, not a moslem country, not a communist country, Iran was the place to go to have fun & live a better life, we had the best universities in the area, the best hospitals, the best of so much...

but the religeous crazies bought themselves a change of government, many like our family left since we could live in this way...friends of ours have had to change their last names to Moslem sounding names just so their kids can go to school and not get harrassed, these are minor things that people put up with, the deeper issues can be said are with the dispare that the young people live with...
I hope we can bring change without too big a price, but who knows at this point...it is looking to be a harsh one...I just hope more people do not have to die and suffer but for real change to come that may be the only way to go...
I say country wide STRIKES will be a great next step for the people...

Hi Jelveh:
Wow! What a difference between how you knew your home country and how it is now. Instead of progessing, it appears that they are regressing. As much as I don't want to say this, I think you might be correct about the price that has to be paid to improve the conditons. History tells us that it is almost always a dear but required price to pay. My heart goes out to the people suffering and those who will suffer the ultimate in bring about a change for the better!

Hey Ginny, yes change will have a price, my aunt said last night, it is so much worse than we know about...the sad thing is, I mean even more sad than what we see & hear is going on already, the sad thing is that it may come to nothing, the people have no way to defend themselves, although reports are coming in that they are fighting back with rocks and with love, in that in some cases they are talking the police in to joining them...so the government has hired poor people from Arab countries and is shipping them in to do the dirty work for them...

I just hope they can get some support & organized backing & a possible leader stands up & takes the lead, this will go no where if there is no support & no leadership...the guy that they started this over, Mir Mossavie, is not that much better than the idiot in charge now...I sure hope he realizes the hopes & dreams of 75 million people is on his shoulders, he is 72 and was also picked by the supreme leader to run for president as one of the 4 people who ran...so we shall see...the guy I think would be a good leader was arrested yesterday, his name is Rafsenjani, if this goes in the right direction you will hear him being pushed forward as the new possible leader, is very western friendly....

The Bead is Gorgeous as always. My prayers are with the people of Iran. I remember the Iran of yesterday and when the people lost all the freedom they had gained. We are so Blessed. Carolyn from Fla.
