Is it bigger than a toaster...?

For the past couple of weeks or so I have been dealing with some medical stuff...so they kept checking me for all kind of issues, ran tests & I was on some meds too & felt better, then felt worse...it was like playing 20 questions...Is it Animal, Vegetable or Mineral...? well it turns out it was Mineral...I passed a 5x2mm kidney Stone early Sunday & spent a few hours in the emergency room, fun stuff...to his credit my very funny Dr. Called me on my birthday, this past Thursday, he said I had to come in for more tests right now, when I said I wont be able to since I had a hair appointment, he said "hair more important than life? well if you end up in the emergency room before Tuesday (my next appointment) its not my fault" good news he said was "that for a big girl my cholesterol was only 155" you have to know that my Dr. has a very thick Chines accent & I could not help but laugh the whole time he was basically yelling at me for not going to the office for more tests...by the way when I was at the hospital my hair had no grays & the bit with the shocking pink looks really fun...

I had some pain & I kept getting really tired really fast, but still I went out to dinner with hubby on Thursday & to dinner on Friday with hubby, my sister & her hubby, in between which I shipped beads & another 30 Key Mandrels...needless to say its was dumb or perhaps all the activity helped to pass the big stone...the cartoon above might give you an idea of the kind of pain I was in & its funny...

Hope your memorial day weekend was more fun & less memorable than mine & you took some time to remember those gone before us...I am recovering now & life is once again good...as a side note, I love Rhinos, I even met one up close & personal, he was lovely...

My thoughts exactly... Holy Moly, Criminy, What the heck... Well I hope you feel better asap! Not quite sure what you meant about the hair and the pink tho. I must have missed something.

Thanks Mel, feeling much better, just soar all over kind of...

Hey Nancy, thanks for the good words, the birthday was good...the hair thing is, I had a section of it bleached & then dyed shocking pink...you know just for fun...and it looked good while in the hospital, it was just a joke really...basically I did my hair instead of going in and seeing my DR. on my birthday...by the way he never said anything about a kidney stone, he was just worried since my kidney function tests and my anemia test results were not good...anyway all better now...

Oh ick, no, kidney stones! My mom passes one about every six months because she has some weird ultra-high calcium in her blood. Not sure what THAT'S all about.

He actually SAID "for a big girl"? I think I'd have either burst out into tears or smacked him. Or both.

Recently I had to have a biopsy on my6 sural nerve and it all went well until after the stitches removed. About 5 days later its wide open as the sural nerve is at the of your ankle. I had to return to my neurosurgen and he wrapped up and told me I was to stay in bed. Well I had a hair appointment the next day and lets face it the hair comes first. I go b ack to have my foot checked on Wednesday

Let face it the hair comes first. If I'm going down my hair has to look great. Love the new bead as I wear a lot of brown and it would look great on me. Take care and be well Carolyn,Fla.

Hi Jelveh:
Well, you know that I already know about what happened and you know what I think since I sent you an email. The one thing that I did not know was that you refused to go to the doctor when he said you needed to go! Bad girl, Jelevh. We all want you to take care of yourself. That being said, hair appointments are important to us. The day I broke several bones in my foot, a temporary cast was put on while I waited for the orthopedic surgeon to "do his thing". I had a hair appointment that afternoon--the same day that I broke my foot in the morning. I am telling you, girl,I went to that hair appontment---in a wheel chair. No way was I going to be incapacitated with horrible looking hair!!! LOL!

I am glad that your problem is now taken care of, and so sorry that you had to endure such pain!

Been there done that--had a couple of kidney stones myself. The pain is really nasty. I'm very impressed you could function without some heavy meds and that it took sooo long to pass. There's really not much to do but drink lots of liquids and wait for it to go away; or have surgery, which would be my last choice, espceially since it doesn't help that much sometimes anyway...so kudos to you for toughing it out. Hopefully life will be MUCH better now that it found it's way out!

I want pictures of your pink streak! >^..^<

Hey Lori, oh sounds like your mom has it worse than me, this is the biggest one I ever passed, 20 years ago I had one blown up, but often the small ones just go on their own, this one came with all kinds of extras, like infection, belly pain, back pain, for days...but all better now...
oh and yes he said for a Big Girl twice, I laughed and I said you mean FAT, he said "yes yes, FAT girl, good cholestral, only 155)...I laughed he is so funny & he is a good DR...

Thanks so much Sue, doing much better here...

ouch Carolyn that sounds very painful, but you know the hair has to look good too...glad to know I am not alone on this...

OH Ginny girl, you broke it and went to your hair appointment anyway???I know I am a bad girl, but he could have done nothing to stop it from happening, in fact he said my going about my life, and moving even though I was in pain is the reason the came out without surgery...and well the pain, it was bad, it is still a bit harsh, since the stupid stone cut its way and made scars & left a signiture as it went thorugh...I should be back to normal soon...thanks again...

oh Rickie, you get them too...they are so nasty...he gave me some meds for the back pain just a week before and he was doing all kinds of tests to see what was up...but it was the CT Scan that finally showed what had happened...I am taking some pain killers now, life is good...but you know the pain when its happening is so bad that the pain killers dont do too much...
I was so involved with sending the beads and tools and dinners that I forgot to take photos of my hair, will do this week sometime and put it up...

Jelveh, I hope you feel better soon! I've also done the kidney stone route a couple of times. It certainly is NOT fun! I had to have surgery with one and was pregnant when I passed the other... not really looking for a reoccurance anytime soon! You hang in there!
