Tate Modern & Beads...

Hi all, This past weekend hubby & I went to the Tate Modern Museum in London...I was once again smitten by the surrealists such as Benton, Dali & Miro...I do enjoy Cubism too...such is the life of the artist I guess, a bit of art goes a long way...I made some yummy beads this past few days inspired by our adventure in to London in the middle of snow & 12 degree below weather...life is good...

The winner of last weeks giveaway is Ginny, thanks all for the hellos...the flower bead above is this week's giveaway, I love making these flat flower beads with the hole in the middle, love to see what this week's winner will make with this one, to win this bead just enter a comment on this post, say hello, tell a story about inspiration or what to do with this flower bead or what have you, there are no rules, its all random, winner will be picked by next Wednesday...

oh yeah I have new beads, some already sold, there are more on the right, check them out, let me know what you think...

Thanks for stopping by...

Jelveh

Peace

Hi Jelveh,
Love your new beads...can tell the museum was a great inspiration. We are leaving tomorrow for Breckenridge, CO for 2 wks of skiing. But always take my "beads" along and work on jewelry too. I set my table up in front of the picture windows facing the ski mountain. Now that is what I call inspiration!!!
The flower bead is gorgeous and I see it as a button closure on a bracelet :o)
Have a great week!

Great bead!
My hubby and I LOVE going to museums. Last summer we went to the Walters Art Museum (http://www.thewalters.org/) in Baltimore three days in a row so that we could see it all.

Good Evening Jelveh, I hope it has warmed up a bit for you in Oxford. As Lisa said, it is sunny in PDX today. Rare & wonderful!

I see this flower as the center of a croqueted rope bracelet. Sue

Hi Jelveh! Loving these beads. I think I'd use this flower bead as a focal. Maybe surround it with peridot :)

I would place this bead in a special place on my inspiration altar to remind me of you...specifically your own inspirational talent, your generosity and eternal optimism even in the face of adversity, and of course your immense artistic talent. I need to remember to practice those qualities more often.

Thanks for your bead giveaways.

Oh, wow! I am so excited to be getting that gorgeous focal! I can't wait to get my package from you with this bead and the ones I purchased today.
Hmmmm, inspiration. I have found that my best inspiration is just to play with the gemstones, silver and lampwork beads I have on hand---but I do have waaaaay too much of those! That actually makes it harder to design because, even though I may be satisfied with a design, I am always searching for something that is just a little better. So what I do is limit what I work with. I will pull out a few things that are color compatible with the lampwork and make myself design with only those things and some Turkish silver.
I would love to see this week's giveaway bead used on a hair clip with some small coordinating gemstones--maybe even some "dangly" things. I think that it would look beautiful in almost any color hair.
I can also see that bead being used as a purse closure.
Thank you, Jelveh, for being an inspiration to all of us!
Ginny
BTW, for Lisa D. I am glad you are getting sunshine! I live in Florida and we have just had two days of rain. Now we are expecting temps in the twenties this weekend--unusual in these parts!!!

Hi Jelveh,
Gorgeous colors and design in the flower bead. Don't know what I'd do, although I've been doing a lot of macrame with a thin nylon bead cord, so maybe I'd incorporate it into a bracelet or necklace. It was 74 today in Redwood City - very warm for this time of year!
Thanks again for the beautiful bead I won a couple of months ago!
Best,
Libbie

Sue---I love Colorado, you know I lived there for two years once & there is so much inspiration, have fun on the mountain...I took beads to California with me for the holidays too, by the middle of the first week I was looking for a torch to work on like an addict looks for their next fix...

Suzifitz---that sounds like fun, I have done it once I think when I had a chance to go back to the Luvre in Paris a couple of days in a row...life is good...

Lisa D.---you had sun, you lucky girl, we have had no sun, it snowed in London while we were crossing the Blackfriais Bridge in mid afternoon to go to the Tate in London...sunshine, boy I wish we had some...oh yeah the Turquoise Flat beads, I will make more in the same shape but different colors I think soon...you know me I never stick to one idea for too long...

Sue---thanks for the update about the sun...great for you guys...yeah I was thinking the main bead for a bracelet too, it is a rather large bead I think it is 28mm across or something like that...and the hole is large enough to weave in and out of...

Nancy---yup paridot would be a good color match...I love to see it in a pool of crystals...it is a big bead so it can stand alone against a bunch of smaller crystals and such...thanks for the good words...

Hi Jelveh,
I'd not seen your flower beads before. What a gorgeous bead! I love the color combination. Will you be making more to be sold on Etsy? I like the purse closure idea best, but it would be beautiful in many applications.

I have some interesting news and we'll see where this goes. I have an offer from a friend who owns an art gallery who has asked to put some of my bead jewelry on display. Almost all of the pieces made with your beads have been sold already, but I do have that lovely Arizona Sunset coming that will undoubtedly go into the gallery when completed. All things move slowly here on Maui so I'm not sure when this will take place, but I'll keep you posted on the progress. This is very exciting for me.
Aloha,
Lee

Hey Jelveh! Beautiful beads this week!! I think this wonderful flower bead would look neat with a button as the center (small one so not to distract from the beautiful orange dots, maybe of a orangish shade) and attaching it to a single sliver chain with a little bit of clear beading wire. It would have to be a focal piece all of its own.

Hope you are doing well!

Love
Julia

Stephanie---you are so fun and funny, sooner or later you are going to have to make something with the beads you got...love to see what you make with them you artist girl...

Ginny girl---congrats on the win...I know what you mean about limiting, it happens to me at the torch, where there is too many colors and choices of glass types my brain kind of goes nuts after while, when I find I need to get back to the center I always choose only 2 or 3 colors to work with...I think black and whites to this for me best sometimes...since we have been here I have not been on a black and white bead making kick, so I know that mean I have lots of good ideas...but just to clean the palate I will work with them this coming week...oh yeah a hair clip would be cool too...it is a large bead, I hope whoever wins it comes back with photos of what they made...
and about this thing called SUN...talked to my parents today and it is 78 degrees in our home town, so I ask you where was winter when I was there last year this time...I am dealing with below zero numbers here...

Libbie---74 degrees, dont you people have any shame? so cold here...how come Redwood City so warm in Jan, something is off here...you know even Santa Cruz is not that warm this time of the year...love to see what you made with your win bead...

Victoria B.---a headband sounds good too...I love all these cool ideas you have...

Hey Lee---that is cool news about selling at a new place, your work is lovely & will do great...the rounds are almost done, I ran out of gas, could not figure out why the pink was acting funny, so now I will finish them and have them shipped by Tuesday...about the flower yeah I think I will make more...I am always at odds between abstract and literal designs, I love working with both...so I think with the pending spring (would not know it from the weather here) I will be working with more flower designs...even some heavey duty larger encased ones too...keep an eye out...

Julia---what a clear girl, clear beading wire & an button would be awesome too...its a big enough bead to stand as a focal...

Black Rose---Thanks, yup it was fun at the Tate...we should go back soon, I still have to finish browsing a whole other wing...I love how they had to move some of the work that was outside to the inside and it is mixed with another group of art, so its kind of wild...I was reading about this artist from Mexico that makes sculptures to put in the ocean, he makes them so they get coral and such growing on them...now that would be a museum to visit...
