New Beads & a MOVE back....

Hi all, hope you are having a good week...ours was awesome, well not withstanding that 2 days after we came back from California, we found out that hubby's job with about another 70 jobs in his company had been re-organized or re-structured out of existence, so for the past month, we have been trying to figure out our next move. Hubby's last day at work will be the middle of March and we are then going back to California...WOW...ok I am calm now, it was just such a huge ordeal to move my entire studio and life here, then only in one years time to pack it all up & move it back is kind of hard on our system...no worries, Life is good...Change is good and going back home is always really good...I mean c'mon, I have not seen the sun here in about 4 months, the English are a fun smart great people & England is full of history & lovely landscapes, but nothing will ever beat California weather...well maybe Florida weather...lol

We will miss many things about living in England, one cool thing is being able to travel so easily to many different countries, a privilege we took very little advantage of, well we barely had time to settle in, for example if we had known sooner about the move, we would not have spent 3 weeks in California over the holidays, we would have gone to Spain and Greece instead, I tell you it would have been a lot more fun...the other thing i love is being so close to London and the theater, this last weekend we saw the London production of Chicago the Musical at the Cambridge Theater, which was an awesome experience, we loved it...

As for beads, I will be making and shipping them as long as I have the studio up, so the next 4 weeks there will be new beads, then there will be beads I have made and not listed yet(again new to you), then there will be no beads for a few weeks (unless I can rent a studio, Molly are you reading this girl?), then there will be new beads again...I will do my best to have regular updates with new beads, speaking of which check out the new beads on the right side of this posting...

As for the winner of last weeks beads, Sandi B. of TX wins the yummy purple bead, this weeks bead is another example of what you can do with silver foil and a lot of transparent glass, love the way this bead came out, it is a large and yummy focal bead 33mm along the hole x 23mm wide, the colors are blues and purples and golds...you can enter to win it by making a comment on this post, about the bead, about easy ways to move 1000 plus pounds of glass rods, or any advise you like to part with, winner chosen at random by hubby in about a week...

thanks for stopping by, Life is good....

Jelveh

Peace

I LOVE the clors in your newest give-away bead!

As for having to move again, oh dear, my heart goes out to you!! Just remember to take your presses as carry-on luggage this time! LOL

Oh, I just had an idea a bunch of us should come and visit at the last minute (with very little in our luggage) and the bring glass back for in our practically empty suitcases. :-)

Hi Jelveh:
So you are moving back to California; life does take strange turns and throws curve balls sometimes. However, I know that you are an eternal optimist, and because of your positive outlook on life, you will be just fine!
I am sure that your family is delighted that you are moving back--think of all the good times you have ahead----and try not to think about packing up and unpacking at the other end!
You already know that I absolutely adore that new fish bead! I was so lucky to snag it!
Hi to Martin!

Hi Jelveh ~ Sorry to hear about your hubby's job :( As they say, when one door closes, another one opens. I wish you & your family the best!

I think this week's bead is just gorgeous! You are so talented that I am sure you will find studio space when you get back to California.

At the rate it's been snowing here in Cleveland, Ohio we will probably break the record for Snowiest January. Thankfully your beads add some sunshine and color to my world.

Hi Jelveh,

Life happens...doesn't it! I remember getting the call to move home unexpectantly when we were on assignment and having the same thoughts. If we had known we would have seen more of the world while we had the chance. We missed the Taj, thinking there was another trip to India in the works before we went home & fall is the best time to see it. Know what, I haven't missed it, home is the best place especially with family to surround you.

I wish I wasn't on a strict bead diet, I absolutely love the pink focal you have listed this week. Your talent continues to reach new levels.

All the best,
Sue

Hi Jelveh,
Welcome back to California! The weather is definitely better here than in Florida (at least Miami which is where I spent my first 18 years). It sounds like you had some great experiences in England, but I understand how hard it would be to move all your stuff back.
Life is a little difficult right now, both financially and health wise, but hopefully things will get better soon and I'll be able to buy some nice beads, such as yours. By the way, your new bead kind of reminds me of California one one side and England on the other!
Best wishes for an easy move!
Libbie

jelveh, i am so sorry to hear about the job situation; very stressful times. it's dreadful opening the newspaper each morning because it lists the latest wave of job cuts. then hearing that $35,000 of bailout money was spent on a commode; an office remodel!! i know you will make it through; you are one of the strongest, most resilient women i know. it will be good to have you back though. i especially like the colors of this focal; sweet enough to eat! maybe a silk ribbon for a pendant. kind regards, lisa d., portland, oregon

Hi Jelveh
As John Lennon said "Life is what happens while we're busy making plans". Well what can you do? Just go with the flow...the Universe oviously wants to spread your talnets all aroung the world. I just saw the Caulder exhibit at the Whitney Museum in NYC...your bead reminds me a little of it... the childlike colors all swirled together remind me of his childrens' toys and circus models and the spiral reminds me of his wire sculptures.

It's a beautiful bead.

Stephani

I for one, am glad to see you come back to the states, Jelveh! Having you overseas just doesn't feel 'right'!!

I love your fantastic focal bead! it reminds me of a setting sun and the rays that cast different colors of shimmer on the ocean!

Best wishes on the packing... fun....
Nicole

Suzi----I so remember not shipping by mail my presses and having to wait for them last time we moved, this time I am mailing them so I will get them with the rest of my small studio, like one torch, one concentrator & my big kiln, tools and glass, thanks for reminding me girl...wish you could come and visit, you are welcome to come between now and when we leave...

Ginny girl---yup life does things in its own way, we have always just gone with it and came out good on the other end...the family is so happy we are coming back, my friends are already planning parties and road trips...we are trying to see and do as much as we can before we leave here...wait till I tell you what we did this coming weekend...glad you got the fish, although Martin might have had me cancel the sell had it not been you...

JozD---sorry to hear about he snow, wow that is so much, here is snowed a couple of times but never enough to stick around for more than a couple of hours...
yup the job thing is just a job, life is good & we will be fine...thanks for the good words...oh yeah the bead, I did have fun making it, and I was going to list it on etsy but the photos were being stubborn, only got this one good one from it and I though this means this bead goes to the giveaway...glad you like it...

Sue---Both my father and hubby's dad were in the military, we are both the Colonels kids and both our families moved many times, year after year, hubby's more than mine...both his mom and my mom said they knew how I felt and I will survive it...course as kids we remember all the moves too...we will try and see some cool place before we leave for sure...
Speaking of diets, when I find out I am going to be away from my torch for a while, I go on a melting glass binge, and not the food ones like I used to, so I should have some yummy beads to entice you with...

Libbie---sending all kinds of good feeling and thoughts your way, I know all will be well both with the health the financial stuff, just remember it will be good...
I am not sure about Florida not having as good weather as California, there is that whole storm thing that happens there, but then we have quakes to deal with, I remember being 10 miles away from the epicenter of the 1989quake...I guess there is good and bad issues with all places...
I went back and looked at the bead, and I think you are right, it does have a cool/warm Cali/England feel to it...hang in there...

Lisa D---you know how I feel about the people who abuse and use other people, like these idiots and our tax dollars...what goes around comes around...I mean c'mon a $1400.00 paper basket, or as the English say Rubbish Bin...? all is good, life is good...Silk Ribbon sounds really yummy...how do you fasten the ribbon, I always wonder is the bead might be too heavy and drag the ribbon down...I am sure you talented designers know what to do...love to know...

Stephani----Thanks girl for all your good words, I hope I have that much talent, I will try and live up to your good words about my art by making better beads...yup life happens when you are busy making plans for sure...we know the assignment would be short, it was meant to be two years, but a little over a year is ok too, we had a great time, met great people, went to awesome places and still have a couple of months left here...and change is good as you know...life is good...

thanks for the kind words about the beads too, it is a hit with everyone...oh yeah the packing, we have already started...its been fun in the studio as I find all kinds of cool notes and ideas I had at one time and now I get to follow through with...life is good

Oh, Jelveh..I missed reading your blog for a few days and see missed your big news! Will you be back in Santa Cruz? I hope you'll take a few days to make those little side trips to Europe before you come back--a bird in the hand you know! I think the worldwide economy has thrown alot of us in turmoil, but I agree that each day is a new adventure. We can take it as it comes, with a zest for life, and looking at the 'cup half full' and be happy. So, you're off on the next leg of "Jelveh's Big Adventure". Here's hoping the best is yet to come--and with you're attitude, I'm counting on it!
