Interesting tidbit! According to online sources, BathTub Gin was created in the 1920's. Read on...

As gin was the predominant drink in the Roaring 20's, many variations were created by mixing cheap grain alcohol with water and flavorings and other agents, such as juniper berry juice and glycerin. Contrary to popular belief, the spirit was not made in a bathtub. Rather, because the preferred sort of bottle was too tall to be topped off with water from a sink, they were filled from a bathtub tap.

Many other cocktails owe their life to Bathtub gin, as they were also created in order to mask the awful taste.

Hi Jelveh!
It's good to have you have in action after that boston area holiday!
Google says it's in the 20's! No liquor allowed, right?

Oh, those wild and roaring twenties!
The decade of the 1920's saw the origin of bathub gin. This "homemade" and sometimes lethal alcoholic drink became popular during the prohibition era in the United States.

people get very creative when we outlaw something they think they can't live without...like during prohibition, 20's, started making gin in their bathtubs. lisa d., portland, oregon

hi all, everyone is right, keep entering since hubby is picking a name from the correct answers...In iran today this is one of the ways how people get their drink on as it wore...they make it at home...probebly in the tub too...the ohter is they buy it in the black market, there is even a group who you call & they deliver it to your home, for a large amount of money...all under gournd...I think its cool kind of, bucking the government & drinking anyway...

Jelveh,

The bathtub gin from the Roaring 20's was something I always heard about in my home town. Who was making it etc. I guess people love a scandal.

ROARING 20s Its good to have you back. It broke my heart to hear what you went through at the airport. It's a shame that America has been brought to this. Love Carolyn
