Is it bigger than a toaster...?

For the past couple of weeks or so I have been dealing with some medical stuff...so they kept checking me for all kind of issues, ran tests & I was on some meds too & felt better, then felt worse...it was like playing 20 questions...Is it Animal, Vegetable or Mineral...? well it turns out it was Mineral...I passed a 5x2mm kidney Stone early Sunday & spent a few hours in the emergency room, fun stuff...to his credit my very funny Dr. Called me on my birthday, this past Thursday, he said I had to come in for more tests right now, when I said I wont be able to since I had a hair appointment, he said "hair more important than life? well if you end up in the emergency room before Tuesday (my next appointment) its not my fault" good news he said was "that for a big girl my cholesterol was only 155" you have to know that my Dr. has a very thick Chines accent & I could not help but laugh the whole time he was basically yelling at me for not going to the office for more tests...by the way when I was at the hospital my hair had no grays & the bit with the shocking pink looks really fun...

I had some pain & I kept getting really tired really fast, but still I went out to dinner with hubby on Thursday & to dinner on Friday with hubby, my sister & her hubby, in between which I shipped beads & another 30 Key Mandrels...needless to say its was dumb or perhaps all the activity helped to pass the big stone...the cartoon above might give you an idea of the kind of pain I was in & its funny...

Hope your memorial day weekend was more fun & less memorable than mine & you took some time to remember those gone before us...I am recovering now & life is once again good...as a side note, I love Rhinos, I even met one up close & personal, he was lovely...

An innocent comment...

Today’s beads are all the result an innocent comment made by Ginny a while back on one of the blog posts, she said simply, you know me I am already working on my fall line…when I had asked the question what colors are you looking for…well there you have it, I could not get it out of my head this week, every time at the torch, every time I reached for a color or an idea jumped in to my head it was all about fall colors, but really these colors can be used any time any where…I hope you like this week’s beads as much as I like making them…& if for some reason you dont like the colors blame it on Ginny...lol

And then there is that small bit of news about Thursday, the day I turn 45…oddly I don’t feel any different than when I turned 30 or 40, I keep waiting for wisdom to jump in to my head, still nothing, I am still a kid, still very trusting, still see the best of everything and everyone first then the other stuff & still have very idealistic views about life in general…don’t know if this is good or bad, but do know Life is good & I am grateful for it all…

Day with Summmer Girl...

On Sunday we spent the day with my niece Summer girl for her 11th birthday & my birthday which is this week, the big 45...she is the smartest girl and so much fun to hang out with...she is a big time Star Trek fan, so we went to Star Trek again & then we had some Sushi and some Ice Cream at Marinie's...we did some girl shopping too...we had a great time...check out this car we saw in Santa Cruz, it has beads and all kinds of goodies all over it, thousands of glass beads and wood beads and shells, it was amazing...

Well what can I say, I am so thankful for the great response to the Jelveh Designs Key Mandrel...it has been selling like hot cakes & with that comes a ton of shipping & record keeping, thank goodness for my friend Cathy, she has helped me out a lot... what is it they say, be careful what you ask for, you might just get it...I am very appreciative & thankful for all the love everyone...

As fun as the new tool & its sales have been, the most fun for me is melting glass & making beads, so back to our regularly scheduled program we go...I have some new beads for you this week, click here to check them out...

In other news hubby started his very cool new job this week & on Sat we saw Star Trek, I have to hand it to JJ Abrams for doing it well, some fans may disagree but I thought it was brilliant & well done. Over the weekend it grossed $76 million+ an amazing number, not to mention it beats the weekend gross for the highest Star Trek movie to date by $40 million...if you are a fan you will love it, if you are not a fan may just become one...

Jelveh Designs Key Mandrel...

Hi Everyone, I’m so thrilled to announce that I am now selling the brand new Jelveh Designs Key Mandrel. I designed and manufactured this wonderful tool to enable you to secure a skeleton key (or anything with a hole that you want to wrap glass around!) and wrap perfectly round beads around it while working in the flame.

I had the first Jelveh Designs Key Mandrel made over a year ago by a good friend of mine who is a master machinist. I have been testing it for durability & reliability since then before offering it to you. It is one of the coolest tools that I have in my bead-making toy box…especially since skeleton key beads are all the rage right now!

The Jelveh Designs Key Mandrel is made out of stainless steel, and the skeleton key is secured by a simple hex screw and washer assembly. I am also offering an Allen wrench for a small additional fee, though you can use any standard 9/64 sized Allen wrench if you prefer.

The cost to you?…only $12 plus shipping for the mandrel alone, and I’ll throw in the Allen wrench for an additional $1 if you request it. Each mandrel will also come with an additional screw and washer in case you lose one.

Miss Minnie...

My very cool & talented friend Laura made me the coolest gift I have ever had made for me...introducing Miss Minnie the Guinea, I named her...she made it all herself, it is knitted from mohair...Miss Minnie looks so real & feels so good, I love her...I am amazed at how nice Laura is & even more at how talented & creative she is...this gift made me smile & cry, I so miss Laura... Over the weekend we took Hubby's new used Prius on a road trip to Reno, did a bit of relaxing, gambling & antiquing where I bought some skeleton keys as the ones I got last year at the Oxford Antique Market are almost all gone...we also saw the show Menopause which was awesome...

Bohemain Pinks...

Hi all, hope you have had a good week so far...we have had a great week, mostly...besides getting some nasty itchy hives from some food or some other allergens a few days ago, our week has been full of fun, sun & good things...over the weekend hubby did some work stuff & I made a few beads, listed them, see the post below to see that batch...then I made some more beads for today...I have listed them on etsy click here to see...

Here is a photo of me at a dam park area very close to our house, about a 10 minute ride...it was so lovely there this weekend...we drove Bella over to the park with the top down, probably how I picked up the allergens & got the hives...but that came later, we had fun the rest of the time...

French Casual...

I was looking at an English clothing store on line, looking to see if I could get my favorite trousers from them & shipped to the US (yes) anyway I ran across one their new lines for the season its called Casual Orchid, which has all these lemon yellows, gray & white colors in it...inspired by the clothes I picked a nice gray or so I thought with a pretty lemon yellow, some black and crystal clear to make some beads...as you can see in the photos my gray is more of a tan stone with lots of details in it, I went back & checked this colors name & for all you bead makers this is one of the new Cool Colors from Effetre, but I can not figure out which one, its either the 654 or 683 one of the Fossil ones...

The yummy photo above is of the beads I made yesterday...one set listed already rest to come as time goes on...in other words when I feel like it...lol, I am lounging on the couch...

Sunday Surprise...

Ok, the last few days I have been in to making flower & spring beads, above photo is of the newest additons to the the group, I have listed them in my etsy shop & there is more to come on Monday...

Friday night we had the best Persian food at this yummy reasturant in San Jose called Negeen...they have a Belly Dancer on Friday nights which was a surprise to us...she was really good & I love the color of her outfit...can you tell hubby is just a bit uncomfortable, I waved her over with the money & handed it to him, the whole time he is saying no, don't...I am sure inside he is thinking wow what a nice belly...her name is Summer & she is an Etsy addict too...
