I made beads at Amy's...

This past Thursday I met up with the lovely artist bead shop owner Amy Surman at her shop in Oxford...I have just found out about her by way of one of my new clients who is taken jewelry classes from Amy at her shop...one of the nicest, most creative, hardest working people I have met, she is not only the shop owner, the jewelry teacher, a new glass bead maker, but an amazing Silver artist as well...I have traded & purchased some of her silver work which I will share with you when I take some photos...

She has been so kind to let me play on her torch in her studio, I started on Thursday, I came back on Sunday & met her lovely & also very creative sisters, we played on the torch for a while, then I was there again today, we played some more...I had such a good time, she even bought my kiln, since it would not have worked in America, this one I had got just to use with the UK power...above are some of the beads I made while visiting, they are not for sale...and a photo of the front of her shop, Amy is the one on the left...the place is amazing...I am going back to pick up some beads I made for me & to take more photos later this week...

Amy & her sisters, Kay & Lucy, were so kind to me, they fed me & hubby on Sunday as well...just a very kind cool creative group of people that I am so glad to have met & will be friends with for a long time to come...

Peace

Oh, I've always wanted my own shop! But then I was afraid once I owned it, running it would take up all my time and I'd never get to make anything! I'm glad she is making pretty things!

(You do get to visit the coolest people!)

Me too Lori, but I think you are right, there wont be time for all the creative stuff, Amy and I talked about that just yesterday...
She is so busy and so creative all at the same time...
and yes I am a lucky girl, I meet all the cool people...life is good...

Wow.. what fun! The beads you made are fabulous. Wish they were for sale! Especially the teal and purple, one of my favorite color combos. I am in the process of opening up a small art gallery that will feature my jewelry along with artwork from various area artists. Also planning on teaching some classes there (lampworking, watercolor, beading...). Wish you could come and teach at my little place in Ohio Jelveh! I am a beginner lampworker. Not ready to teach yet.

Jelveh - its been great getting to know you and your beads.....such a shame it wasn't sooner!! Thank you for all your kind words. I do love my shop and would advise anyone that's thinking of doing it to take the risk - its scary but if you love it you'll make it work!! I love the teaching, being creative but mostly being surrounded by other creative people. I feel so inspired by your friendship and am looking forward to setting up the lampwork studio over the coming months. I'm itching to get on the torch and am thinking of giving up some sleep time to get my fix!!!

Sue----I will for sure make more of the purple teal when I get home...thanks girl...

Glitzer----it is a great shop, I will share more photos on another post...and thanks for the kind words...

Nanacy----I promise to make more teal and purple when I get home...good for you on the gallery, that sounds like a lot of fun...let me know when you want to set up a class to teach in Ohio and I will come...thanks so much for the kind words...

Amy Girl----you are such a natural creative artist, you were made to have the shop, to help others see their creative side...I am so happy to have met you, yup sad it was not sooner...but we will keep in touch...about sleep vs. melting glass, well yes I agree, sleep is over rated but melting glass as you know I am an addict, so yes go for it, let go of some sleep and feed the need...lol, I will see you this afternoon, thanks again for all the love...
